Let's discuss '$116,350 in fines for VIM since November 1999'.

VIM Recycling has been ordered to pay the Indiana Department of Environmental Management a total of $116,350 in fines since November 1999 stemming from a range of violations at its operations on U.S. 33 on the southeastern edge of Goshen and at Old U.S. 33 west of Elkhart.

So is this why they are so hesitant to shut this place down?  I guess it's better to just let them rack up the fines than to close them down.  Does the EPA see a goldmine at VIM?  Maybe that is why they are still open.

No, they hesitate to shut down VIM because the EPA and other health organizations can not find enough fault to shut it down.  The lawsuits are a bunch of people who somehow were talked into "jumping on the bandstand" to see if they could find some way to make a buck out of it.  When VIM goes then they will go after the fiberglass maker, then the paint shop, then, well, you know.  It goes on and on.  I was interested in the young couple that bought property right next door to VIM who find little to no fault with said plant.  If the plant would ever get shut down I would like to see them store all unused wood on the property to see how long it would take these crybabies to start yelling about that.  I figure it is one or two people who are trying to get the government or VIM to pay for their health care because they are too sloppy lazy to take care of themselves!Wink
