"There remains some question about whose responsibility it will be to pay for the fixes, but the city has taken the responsibility of providing at least temporary support for the frames in order to avoid further incidents."

The city should pay for it! And they should pay for the citizens sidewalks too and not just those in the neighborhoods they choose to improve. They pay for sidewalks in some areas and not the others. If you happen to be on the side of the road they aren't paying for or in the neighborhood that is not on their radar to improve, you have to pay for the sidewalk yourself. Just doesn't seem right.

Hey, Those weren't all just coal-bins either. I can recall that as a small boy during the WWII years, my grandparents took me to several shops-"down under" the sidewalks in Goshen, and only a few years ago did the city remove the last sections of sidewalk that contained different colors of clear-glass blocks which provided some natural light to those very same shops. Talk about cool...

So the man fell through the sidewalk in front of a buisness named the Dew Drop Inn?

Bet the owner never knew how great of a name they picked for the business!

Do hope the man is doing fine
