There needs to be legislation pass that deals with these temp service companies. One of the man reason why local factories pay so low is because they know they can find cheap labor through temp services. Employers don't have to pay for insurance and other things. I learned in my freshmen business class that its more cost effect to hire and train and employee's over going thru temp services.

I interviewed for a job this past Friday and during the interview I was told that they strictly go thru temp services etc. But then she said if the right candidate comes along they would by pass all the temp service stuff. It kills me that there are so many jobs in Etruth.com SouthBendTribune.com 80% are thru Forge or Specialized Staffing but when you call either one of those places for the jobs they say the have they don't have those particular jobs.

Living in Elkhart is a joke at times and then you wonder why people sell drugs and other things.

Look in the mirror do you like what you see if not change it. It's America people.

Phony article promoting the Horizon Spending Program

Hahahahahahhaha. this is purely speculation on my part because these lowlifes would never tell me what they are up too, but...

There was an article a few weeks ago. Not sure of the Headline but theme was 'jobs, jobs, everywhere, but nobody to fill them'. It was poorly written because many thought it was calling the unemployed lazy. I said it didn't pass the smell test and  looked more like a backdoor promotion piece for the for the new spending program called Horizon.

If you recall this group took months and months to promote and get agreements with schools and the Chambers of Commerce to join up for this "privately funded" pseudo educational program.

Once this group thought they had the pieces in place it was time to drop the hammer and have our local statist Mike Yoder go for the kill and ask for public funding, ie your tax money to foot the bill. Just a new government spending program to get some of his pals on the taxpayer take.

The spending bill didn't pass. But to statist like Mike Yoder, NO doesn't mean stop what your doing. To narcissist like Yoder, with the support of this paper, who believe in themselves so strongly that it gives he and his pals the right to do what ever they want, you are just an obstacle to be overcome. So he will continue to try to go around you just like he is with the Agenda 21 zoning plan that he keeps trying to get passed even though he told quite strongly to stop.

Today we get 'Part Two' where we still see jobs everywhere only no one to fill them. The only thing to do is to "Ask the Experts" and amazingly enough the experts happen to be the Chamber of Commerce and the academic idiot head of the Horizon program who was the recipient of the taxpayer money.

Your probably not going to believe this but the 'experts' see that it is "advanced skills" we need. Where to go, where to go to get these advanced skill?

My question is why is Fascism always the best way to solve a problem.

For those confused the definition of Fascism in a merger of government and corporations. Always sold as "for the people" but it never is. This Horizon program is just a way to start new government program funded by you where the beneficiary will be the corporate buddies of the local government. Fraud, deceit deception.

Do I think Mike Yoder is behind this? Yes because he is holding the purse strings they need for this program.

Two solutions for the problem as identified,

acquire the necessary skills, or move.

The skill that is needed to work in the RV factories are a strong back and move fast. They do not hire you for your brain. Just back breaking labor. The only reason they are manufactured the RV's in the USA are the regulations placed on to re-import from Mexico is to to costly. But that will change for labor is cheaper there as we know. As long as we allow our mfg. to move off cost for cheaper labor jobs will never come back. Skill of training for a great paying job is a Myst because there are no large company that can hire as many people that lost their mfg. jobs.

a good point was made about the temp agencies.  I'll offer that it might be a good life lesson that if your job is at a skill level that it could be replaced with someone going through a temp agency, you need to get some additional skills to get a job that is more difficult to fill with a warm body.  Bottom line is that if you are tired of being treated like cattle by your employer, get some additional skills to become a more valued asset.  Cequent is just the latest of a long, long line of companies offering good wages (are they a union shop?) for a relatively low skill job.  We have to work to get more jobs in here that are harder to replace.  I don't know if Horizon has all the answers but you have to admit, someone needs to start working on creating a workforce that can show it is ready to do something besides widget making.  Or we can do nothing and just wait for ALL the decent paying jobs to go to Mexico.  Pete is that what you'd recommend?  Please, i'm begging you-offer something besides venom and Agenda 21 references.

No one has mentioned the effects of Obamination, and it's dramatically increased premiums, as a possible factor resulting in lower wages. I'm not saying, just wondering out loud, kind of.

I forget, who was president on 2010 when this increase happened? Hint: you have the chance to vote for him again, and by the way, if you think it will change if he gets re-elected you are sadly mistaken.

.....that is right, JACK, just like the price of gasoline at the pump and the Cequent departure, the President of the United States, no matter who he is, can not stop the unstoppable greed of the plutocrat/job creators of our society......what we as Americans have to ask ourselves is do we want ONE OF THEIR OWN in the White House?  I can't seem to remember, who was the only 'CEO/Businessman' who was our President?  Certainly one of our 'better' ones, right? The REAL job creators of our country is the middle-class working man, NOT the top 1% CEO /plutocrats/prosperity people you think so highly of......

This election isn't about healthcare, jobs, or the economy, that is all a smokescreen.  It's about leadership and who can lead this country.
