Good luck at ISSMA State Marching Band Championships to Penn HS and all the Elkhart County bands:  Concord, Goshen, Northridge, Fairfield and NorthWood.  Bring IT on, Minutemen!

To the Elkhart Truth staff:  Photos of Fairfield and NorthWood yesterday, and 18 online photos today, but not one of Concord's band...REALLY?!  And no photos from ISSMA Semi-State contests last weekend?

One wonders:  If there were six sports teams from Elkhart County who qualified to compete in a semi-state contest, and if five of those teams advanced to their state finals contest, it would be almost a certainty that the Elkhart Truth would have had a full, front page lead article with large, color photographs.  But for the local marching bands, the best the Truth could muster was a footnote at the bottom of page 1, no print photos, and online photos from the previous week's regional competition.

Marching Band:  Teams of up to 200+ members, everyone plays, no time-outs.  Memorization, musicianship, movement - all as ONE!  What sports teams can compare with that?  Marching bands and their members deserve better coverage in the Elkhart Truth.

Coverage of a previous news item published by the Truth is not relevant to how this story was covered.  The photo coverage for this article is not balanced.

NorthWood 6th and Fairfield 7th in Class C.

Goshen 2nd, Concord 5th and Northridge 6th in Class B.

Well done by all Elkhart County bands.  Jasper, the winner in Class B, has been knocking on the door for quite awhile.  It's nice to see them finally win it all.

Sure send the differential.  By the way, finishing second is something special.  Only the top two places get a banner sent to the school later for their accomplishment.  I don't know what prevented you from going, but you're going to be kicking yourself for not attending.  Make plans now to go next year.  The kids deserve the support for the hard work and you'll be glad you did.

ISSMA has no control over what is posted on any boards other than their own.

In fact, it amazes me that the Indianmarching.com cowers to ISSMA.  Post the scores.  What can an organization that has no control over you do?  If I had them, I'd have no problem posting them from 1-10.  I heard rumblings that the top 5 were within a point and a half or so, but don't know for sure.  I'd guess the top two were within a half point or less though.

JackN,

Thanks for the spread amount.  This was one of the closer years in class B with no runaway favorite all year.  Enjoy the banner for Goshen.  They deserve it.
