This photo of Dave Henke is obviously old.  Any chance we the citizens of Elkhart City can have an updated photo? Like the photo from his arrest for OWI?

Councilman Brent Curry, though, cited Biblical scripture and suggested the city should give churches a discount.

“If you give to the church this little bit of a break, you will be blessed, so I think you ought to be careful about charging churches,” Curry said.

Isn't there a Rule to govern such statements in government actions like separation of Church and State?

Now back to the story, only five of nine councilmen attended the meeting.  A meeting that sends sewer rates up for everyone in our community along with all others on our compact and sewer agreements.  With only five councilmen present, any single one of us wanting to amend or change a portion does not have sufficient votes to do so.  In effect it would obligate a councilmen to not improve the proposed ordinance, disagree with it as written but vote for it anyway so it passes from committee.  The council was held up by the mayor when a different ordinance was proposed and only five members were present.  He asked that it be tabled until a full representation of council were in attendance.  We accommodated that request.  No different here.

Spalding the story is not about me.  It is about council attendance, rate increases and impact of both.  You asked Arvis, not the mayor about the meeting, noticed you didn't ask me.

Regarding the taken water/sewer separation money.  Two sewer rate increases have already occurred (0.85 and 0.88/ month).  When Elkhart Foundry and LaBour Pump projects were started, $1.5MM was taken from the sewer fund.  The bottom line is that rate payers will have to replace that money by paying $1.5MM again.  Worth talking about? Additionally, the City could not tell us how many 501C3s are affected, nor how much money it represents.  There was also a question if Indiana Code allows the discount.

Well, peterman, you have obviously learned your "dirty politics" well from your guru obuma and friends.  Go to the head of the class and sit beside royal and hermie.  Debbie, the dope, "wasterman" (head of the democrati party) will continue you to teach you how to lie and paraphrase what others say.

debbie's name spelled according to her talent--waste of time listening to her!

Before you post on a public forum, perhaps it would be a good idea to proof read your entry...Your mis spellings make you look stupid...And, does it really do any good bringing out a OWI picture that you got off of ECSD website...really? So what? He has a skeleton in his closet...so does everyone else...big deal.
