Mayor Kauffman is very good at spending money.  I would like to see him reign in his past behavior and focus on core functions of city government.

There are several "feel-good" programs that could be scaled back or eliminated that would save the city money.

I find it offensive that he is going after one of the services that is actually a benefit of living in the city.

Perhaps it is time for me to consider moving outside of the city boundaries.

"But that doesn’t mean the discussion is going to go away."

Of course not. Listening to the people is not an option. He (just like mayor in Elkhart) just sees people as an obstacle  to what he wants to do. When they say no it just means we have to find a way to go around them.

"At the heart of the issue is revenues — more specifically, how to raise them"

100% correct. Not much talk cutting spending just finding ways to steal more money. Government has no money so they give themselves permission to steal it using force, coercion, and confiscation always at the end of a gun to get it.

Mayors from coast to coast want to ignore the ongoing depression and maintain the status quo at all costs.

" “What do you want to give up?“

Trust me, he doesn't really want to know because you would through out most of the worthless bureaucrats and worthless programs the city is funding.

Most of what city governments do has nothing to do with running a city.

The core of every city and counties budget problems lie with public union pensions and healthcare. The politicians and the union leadership have made promises to the union members that will never be kept. There is no money for it. Everything else they tell you is a lie.

These poor union members are going to get a lesson in Stein's Law: "Anything that can't go on will stop"

It's just how much abuse will you take till they bankrupt the city.
