MyVoice - How many lives should the results of the research save with better treatment in order to be worth the money?

What is a human life worth to you MyVoice?  Pick a number - $

Are you sure that there is no possible way that things learned in the research might be able to help treatment methods - Reducing the overall amount of treatement necessary for the same benefits?

There are plenty of ways that many studies like this save far more money than they cost in the long run.

Why don't you do more research before you judge...your might just be bad mouthing something that not only saves lives but also helps society lower treatment costs.

"If you break up with me I'm going to crash into that big tree in front of your house", she said.  Her last husband off'd himself but she's still around.  Fairly common ploy, it seems.

he was talking about me.

I was using it as an example of how these facts can come about.  Perhaps I should just make observations about other posters that have nothing to do with the topic?

Crackerjack - Perhaps you should cite statistics and put together a valid argument not based upon the logical fallacy of fiction.

Jack - You said it - Not me.

I have no idea what kind of academic Sociological research you did but if you think it was a poorly done study - I would encourage you to keep improving it.

Seek feedback from respected academics in the field and rework it until you can respect yourself for the work you have done.

umm ok, hello pot.

Just keep editing your post until it works for ya there fella.

I dont need to make a valid argument.  I shared an experience with the topic at hand.  If you dont like it feel free to put me on ignore.  Perhaps you can add something to the conversation?  I find it pretty ironic that you are creating posts calling out other poster for what the are and arent contributing when the posts youve made havent contributed.

Butler,

I have a degree in Psychology from Goshen College and as part of the my degree I did multiple intensive studies in Adolescence and Adolescent Development, including cognitive, psychological, and spiritual development.  I didn't say MY studies were insufficient.  What I said was that I was surprised that this St. Mary's study concludes that ONLY 20% of teen girls have had suicidal thoughts.  The key here is how this study defines a "suicidal thought"  The research that I've read, by substantially more qualified people in the world of Developmental Psychology than than St. Mary's College, indicates that suicidal thought's among teens, whether male or female, are indeed quite normal, and that to find a teen of either sex that has NOT had a suicidal thought is much more rare than this study indicates.
