. If individual school corps and others do not like the conditions with EST just move your clocks back and observe an unofficial CST. I will say I have never seen a more ignorant group of people than Hoosiers
Speaking of ignorant............

Argument can be made in almost every highway traffic accident of what could have been done to prevent it. Unfortunately this paper has chosen to allow promotion of an absurd position taken by someone who on outward appearance by virtue of job title would lend credit; that is until one actually listens to his spoken words.

Why not just blame this tragic event on short coupled wheelbase SUVs, lack of funding in municipal budget preventing prior application of chloride, or even design flaw of the overpass making it vulnerable to icing?

Truth be told, this time of year ice and motorists will be present at any time of the 24 hour day. I see this associate's public statement as nuthin more than words uttered by an opportunist with agenda.

I don't see anyhting ignorant at all.  Some school corporations do just this when they straddlethe border of the time zones.

I hate the change of the time. We should have left it alone! Put it back where it used to be thats my vote!

The accident could be blamed on poor tire inflation, a wonky ball joint, unsafe speed or driver distraction. We don't know what the cause was but we do know that our time zone or Santa had nothing to do with it.

Look up "The History of Time in the US"

"Standard Time" zone was instituted in 1883 by US and Canadian RailRoad.

Before then, time of day was a "Local Matter" and most used "Solar Time"

Use of Standard time gradually increased because of practical advantages for Commerce and Travel.

The Standard Time act of 1918 was repealed in 1919.  Then re-established nationally in WWII ~ War Time Act.

Uniform Time Act of 1966 ~ DST

US Congress transferred the authority over time zones to the US Dept. of Transportation - DOT

Then we had the 1973 "Oil Crisis" when the government decided to "change the dates" of DST

March of 2007, DST was extended another four or five weeks.  The "Change" was introduced by Fred Upton (R-MI) and Edward Markey (D-MA) as an "Energy Policy"

So as you can see, it is once again the meddling of the Elitist Politicians who decide what is best for the little people.

Regulation Nation since 1883.

Unless one is personally affected by the time change I don't see what the big deal is. The time change didn't cause any traffic accident. Speed lack of awareness of road conditions, temperatures. That's what caused that accident. There are always people that continue riving the same way in the fall months as they do in the summer months.

A little common sense, and paying some attention to changing weather conditions will save one alot of heartache, and some money in the long run.SAFETY,SAFETY,SAFETY! Being safety conscience has absolutely nothing to do with the time change. No offense to anyone.

In my opinion, the time change has nothing to do with it.  We all know what the weather is like in Indiana.  When it's cold and snowy, you take precautions for the weather and related roads/conditions and adjust accordingly.

A couple of observations.  1) the accident was caused by the icy conditions of the bridge.  that's part of the report.

2) Professor Gaski is a real thinker, for those of you who called him...what was it?  idiot?  YOU HAVE NO CLUE OF IDIOCY UNLESS YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR.  I happen to know this man, and his intelligence far surpasses anything I have seen from you critics.

3) All you have to do to think clearly about our time issues here is to watch the fireworks from the east coast....which would take anyone 12-14 hours to drive to......and note that at 9PM ...on the east coast...it's DARK.  Here?  it's still daylight on the absurd time we are on.  However,....in Chicago (takes about 2 hours to drive there.....) it's the same amount of light/dark as we have here.

4) Governor Daniels and his bunch wanted to be on the same time as the east coast....to which I said often enough...."then move there!!!!".  Businesses who have to deal in time zones applauded it as some sort of easy way to be able to tell the times from one zone to another.  An argument which melts into dirty slush when one asks:  what do you do with businesses in....Illinois?  Iowa???? California????? HMMMM????  THEY NEVER HAVE A COMEBACK ON THAT ONE.

5) Jefferson Quotes has the right of it .....again.
