I am happy that I was able see Alan last Labor Day weekend when I was in Elkhart meeting with friends planning a Partly Dave Reunion. The Partly Dave Coffeeehouse was one outlet for Alan to express his art, politics, and make long lasting friends. I remember many of Alan and Renie's wonderful parties at the "Swamp" I think they called it. I am sorry Alan won' be attending the coffeehouse reunion in June but he will be part of a remembrance service we will have from many of our coffeehouse friends.

A wonderful husband to my beloved longtime friend Renie; a staunch advocate for peace and social justice; and the guy who kept Elkhart's lights on for decades, Alan will long be remembered. I was often the beneficiary of his quiet kindness, as was my mother in her last years.

Though some viewed Alan harsh and strict, I always found him reasonable and fair. We've lost a true authority and among the most knowledgable in the electrical trade, locally and otherwise. R.I.P. Alan.
