NEW PARIS - Delbert D. Burkholder, 89, of New Paris, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Many years ago while on leave from the Navy, I stopped in New Paris to get gas for my car. A man at the station walked up and I said, "Hi, Uncle Nelson". He smiled and told me that he was Delbert my Uncle Nelson's brother. Such a nice man. The pump was self serve back when that had started. I told him that I didn't know how to pump my own gas so he showed me and I have been pumping my own since. I am sorry to hear of his passing and wish his family peace.
