Benjamin J. Reschly

GOSHEN - Benjamin Jacob Reschly, 77, died Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2013, at Courtyard Healthcare, where he had been since November 2009 battling Alzheimer's.

He was born Jan. 25, 1935, in Henry County, Iowa, to Harry and Fanny (Conrad) Reschly.

He married Margery F. Gerber Oct. 4, 1958, in Orville, Ohio. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Sonya D. Reschly of Rochester, N.Y., and Bryon J. (Debra) Reschly of Bristol; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Brianna, both of Goshen; two sisters, Kathryn Lehmann of Fort Wayne and Elsie (Stanley) Burkholder of Washington, Iowa; and three brothers, Marion (Opal) Reschly of Crawfordsville, Iowa, Raymond (Wava) Reschly of Kalona, Iowa, and Vernon (Laura) Reschly of Nowata, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daryl Lynn Reschly; a sister, Vera Buchanon; and two brothers, Willard and Orlin Reschly.

A Goshen resident since 1956, Mr. Reschly worked for the original Salem Bank in Goshen and retired as a loan officer for Key Bank in 1990 after 27 years in the banking business.

He was a member of Grace Community Church. He enjoyed fixing things, motorcycle trips and taking his grandchildren camping.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Jim Brown, Grace Community Church, will officiate.

Cremation will take place following the service.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church, Asia's Hope or Alzheimer's Association of America.
