LISLE, Ill. - Mary T. (Sierzan) Bickel, 86, of Lisle, formerly of Oldsmar, Fla., Sterling and Elkhart, Ind., died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in her apartment with hospice care at The Devonshire of Lisle.
She was born March 25, 1926, in Detroit to William and Carrie Sierzan.
She was married to the love of her life, C. Robert (Bob) Bickel Aug. 12, 1946, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing on Aug. 26, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Christine) of St. Pete Beach, Fla., Jan of Chicago, Karen "Currier" of Aurora and her adopted daughter, Martha, of Chicago; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Constantine High School in Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Sierzan, and her sister, Lottie Kline.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed by CG Conn-Selmer Instrument manufacturers in Elkhart, then moved to Sterling when her husband became the president of First National Bank of Sterling in 1963. They retired together to the gulf coast of Florida in 1983, and were members of Light of Christ Catholic Church in Clearwater, Fla., before she moved to The Devonshire of Lisle in 2011.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m in McDonough Chapel on the campus of Saint Xavier University, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago, on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. A brief visitation period will take place in McDonough Chapel beginning at 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service.
Interment will be in Rice Cemetery, 400 James St., Elkhart, immediately following the Mass.
