Erika A. Growcock

ELKHART - Mrs. Erika A. Growcock, 63, of Elkhart passed away at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Indianapolis on June 24, 1949, to the late William S. and Barbara M. (MacKenzie) Terus.

On Aug. 14, 1995, she married Harry R. Growcock in Elkhart. He survives at home.

Also surviving are her sister, Margot (Bob) Stump, and her niece, Lindsay (Jacob) Fonte, both of Crown Point.

Erika worked for the railroad for more than 40 years (Penn Central, Conrail and Norfolk Southern), starting out as a clerk but also serving many years as a yard master at several locations, including Elkhart's Robert Young Rail Yard. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, crocheting and spending time with her late West Highland terrier, Maggie. She was also an avid Christmas enthusiast and loved to decorate her home, sing carols and watch Christmas movies.

A celebration of Erika's life will take place at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart, with visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, followed by a funeral at noon Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate.

Burial will follow services at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
