ELKHART - Gerald L. Brownlee, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at South Bend Center for Hospice.
He was born Nov. 6, 1937, in Monmouth, Ill., to the late Dean Junior and Mattie (Walters) Brownlee.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen (Palen) Brownlee of Elkhart; four daughters, Kimberly (Matt) Frantz, Stephanie (Jeff) Smith, Jennifer (Casey) Harper and Jessica (Eric) St. Germain, all of Elkhart; grandchildren Amber, Bret, Joshua, Brandon, Paige, Peyton, Amy and Sara; and one great-granddaughter, Samara. Also surviving are a mother-in-law, Barbara Palen; a brother-in-law, John Palen; and a sister-in-law, Marlene Palen, all of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by both parents; sisters Nancy and Barbara; a son, Jerry; and his father-in-law, Fred Palen.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Catamount. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, drawing, playing guitar and singing.
A private graveside service will be at a later date.
