NEW PARIS - Opal Maxine Tarman, 99, of New Paris, died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.

She was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Wakarusa to Alvin C. and Carrie (Blessing) Miller. She married Fredrick H. Tarman on May 8, 1938, in Wakarusa and he died June 13, 1994.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Thomas D. (Lorna) Tarman of Atlanta, Mich.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

Opal was a graduate of Wakarusa High School and South Bend Business College. She was a member of Wakarusa United Methodist Church for 10 years, then joined Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris, in 1938.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris. Pastor Rob Nelson will officiate and burial will be in New Paris Cemetery.
