Dale E. Shively

NAPPANEE - Dale E. Shively, 78, of Nappanee, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in his residence.

He was born July 3, 1934, in Tippecanoe to Russell and Geneva (Baer) Shively.

He attended Nappanee schools and graduated from Etna Green High School in 1952.

Dale owned Shively Insurance and worked as an agent in Nappanee and Goshen. He drove a school bus for Wa-Nee Community Schools for many years, and also had worked for Nappanee EMS for many years.

He was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren and the 3rd of July Club in Goshen.

He enjoyed ice fishing and following his grandkids sporting events.

He married Doris Helser on Nov. 26, 1955, in Warsaw.

She survives along with his daughters, Lisa (Paul) Burris of Wabash, Jenni (Mark) Heeter of Nappanee and Annette (Randy) Spitaels of Nappanee; son Steve (Deb) Shively of Wakarusa; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Sally (Ernest) Heighway of Richmond, Eleanor (Glen) Deaton of Hope and Nancy (Larry) McPherron of Plymouth; and close family friends Alex and Lisa Orn and their two children.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Shively.

Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Pastor Byrl Shaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Stony Point Cemetery.
