EDWARDSBURG, Mich. - Edana Barbara "Dana" Knapp, 95, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Jan. 11, 2013, at Cass County Medical Care Facility, after an illness.
She was born June 4, 1917, in Nokomis, Ill., the daughter of John Sr. and Barbara (Uhle) Huber. She grew up in the Chicago area.
Dana was the owner of the former Dana's Children's Wear in the Chicago area. After selling her store she worked for several children's stores known as Tot Land. When she came to the Michiana area she worked for the former Ziesel's Department Store in Elkhart, Ind.
Dana was married Jan. 25, 1936, in Alton, Ill., to Russell Deon Knapp. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1991.
Surviving are their children, Darlene (Kenneth) Craft of Decatur, Byron "BJ" (Rhonda) Knapp of Niles and Russell (Valerie) Knapp of Edwardsburg. There are seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She has a sister Mary Ann Warren of Spokane, Wash., and a brother Paul Huber of Godfrey, Ill.
Family who have preceded her in death are her husband; her parents; and a brother, John Huber.
Cremation has taken place. A Christian Memorial Service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12 E., Edwardsburg. Family and friends may gather at the church for one hour before the Mass on Monday. Father Joe McCormick, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery.
