BETTENDORF, Iowa - Marvis Gibson, 67, of Bettendorf and formerly of Mesa, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his residence.

A private family gathering is at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Marvis was born June 1, 1945, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Marvis U. Gibson and Yolanda E. Frodroczi.

He married Diane Morgan in Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1999.

He was employed as a truck driver for Bashas Grocery in Mesa, for 15 years, retiring in 2007.

Marvis enjoyed gold prospecting, hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He also liked playing the online game, EverQuest.

Survivors include his daughters, Michelle (Shane) Levan and Debbie Gibson (Scott McConnell), both of Bettendorf; sons Jon Gibson (Erin McLarty) of Arizona and Mark Gibson of Louisiana; grandchildren Amanda Parsons, Amber Mills, Dustin Mills, Alyssa McConnell, Brianna Gibson, Alex Gibson, Emily McConnell, Kylee McConnell and Anna Gibson; and brothers, Doug, Gary and Tom Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diane.
