Memories and Condolences

Jewel Wenger Showalter, Lancaster, PA

Dear "Uncle" Paul and family, How we grieve with you in "Aunt" Ann's passing -- but celebrate and savor the wonderful memories of her life and yours -- poured out for the world. How rich it's been to be part of your extended family -- especially during our years together in Ethiopia. I remember Ann as an always-cheerful and creative person whose home we loved to visit. My mom loves to tell the story of how Ann saw high heels under my bed while visiting our furlough home in East Petersburg and couldn't believe the tomboy she'd known competing with Larry for home runs at Good Shepherd School had become a young woman! Until we meet again -- Jewel Wenger Showalter,China

Dear Paul, As we grieve with you in saying good-bye, we also joy in the reality of a wonderful life and the joy of the resurrection. With love and prayers from China,

Margaret Wenger Johnson, Keezletown, VA

Dear "Uncle" Paul, What a lovely picture of "Aunt" Ann. So sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I have many happy memories from when our families lived, worked and played so closely with each other in Ethiopia. A memory I'd like to share is one time when we "missionary children" were comparing our parent's ages. I remember that it was reported that Aunt Ann was 30 something. At that time to my childish ears, 30 sounded "old". I treasure the memories from our years together. May you and your family be comforted and upheld at this time of loss. Ann was a blessing to so many! Love, Margaret Wenger Johnson
