Gaylord Candler

OSCEOLA - Gaylord "Mr. G" Candler, 77, of Osceola, passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in his home.

He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Fort Wayne to Arden and Gwendolyn (Dearwester) Candler.

On Dec. 17, 1984, he married Sandra "Sandy" B. Perry in Osceola.

She survives along with three sons, Mark Candler of LaGrange, George (Georgette) Candler of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kevin Candler of Osceola; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Siera and Kasi. Also surviving are two sisters, Darlene (Jim) Purlee of Granger and Deanna Nusbaum of Mishawaka; and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gaylord was formerly employed as a milk distributor. He was the owner of Mr. G's Restaurant and Lounge in Osceola, which he founded in 1980. He enjoyed playing slot machines and drinking beer with his many friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Mr. G's, 708 Lincolnway West in Osceola. No services are scheduled and cremation will follow.

Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.

Kevin, So sorry to hear of your dads passing. It's been a long time since I last saw him. I was going to stop by but, wow! I have never seen so many cars! they were accross the street from Beech Rd to the hardware store and both sides of the streets adjacent to G's. He was a special dad and I am sure you will miss.
