Daniel M. DeBeck

GRANGER - Daniel M. DeBeck, 74, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in his home in Granger.

He was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Mishawaka to Marcel DeBeck and Mildred (Morris) DeBeck-Goins. On June 18, 1960, he married Elaine Leda in South Bend.

She survives along with one son, Brian DeBeck of Granger. Also surviving are two sisters, Billie (Robert) Brunsman of Jefferson and Mary Louise (Peter) Rittenhouse of Phoenix.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Daniel was a U.S. Army veteran and later worked as a conductor for many years. He worked for New York Central Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, Conrail Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad, from which he retired in 2005.

In his spare time he enjoyed trap shooting, working on cars and playing cards. He also liked dogs, especially doberman pinchers.

Visitation for Daniel will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children.

Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Worked with Dan on the railroad in Elkhart from 1971 to 1984. He was a really nice man. I was a crew dispatcher and called Dan to work. Was there when he lost his hand. my prayers go out to his family
