ELKHART - Bette M. Sponseller, 90, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born March 30, 1922, in Cass County, Mich., to Bert and Orpha (Meadows) Leist. On June 22, 1940, she married Robert E. Sponseller in Milford.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Sponseller of Creston, Ohio; two sons, Robert E. Sponseller of Creston and Gregory (Barb) Sponseller of New Paris; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Sharp of Goshen; and a brother, Frances Leist of Bakersfield, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard Sponseller; two sisters, Gertrude Deuel and Vera Schrock; and three brothers, Paul, Wendall and Dean Leist.
Mrs. Sponseller worked in retail sales and volunteered for the Red Cross and Goshen General Hospital.
A private burial is planned for a later date.
