Samuel E. Moore

ELKHART - Samuel E. Moore, 87, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at his home.

He was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Maben, Ala. to Walter and Irene (Forrester) Moore.

On Oct. 18, 1947, in Dora, Ala., he married Evelyn F. Moore.

She survives along with six children, Judy (Tim) Eash of Goshen, Kenny (Della) Moore of Alabama, Barbara (Jeff) Archer of Rhode Island, Peter (Julie) Moore of California, Ron (Connie) Moore of South Bend and Susan Moore; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters.

Sam was a former member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting and, in his younger years, playing basketball. He worked for Thompson Manufacturing and Jessen Manufacturing, retiring in 1998. Sam was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Peters from the Bethany Missionary Church will preside and burial will follow in Olive (East) Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army.
