SHIPSHEWANA - Charles D. Ramer, 87, of Shipshewana, died Sunday, Jan. 27, at home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, to Carl and Mildred (Caldwell) Ramer in Wawaka.
He came to LaGrange County more than 50 years ago from Noble County. He was a self-employed livestock hauler and a member of LaGrange Church of God.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On Oct. 13, 1945, he married Janis M. Riddle in Cosperville. She survives in Shipshewana.
Survivors include his children, Janet (Ransom "Randy") Smith of LaGrange, Phillip (Rebecca) Ramer of Goshen, Carl (Debra) Ramer of Auburn and Malcolm (Kim) Ramer of Bristol; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother William (Betty) Ramer of Shipshewana.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents and a son, Merrill Ramer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
