Ernest Chupp

GOSHEN - Ernest Chupp, 97, died Monday night, Jan. 28, 2013, at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Elkhart County to Henry and Fannie (Weirick) Chupp.

On Jan. 15, 1939, he married Elsie Miller. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Delbert L. (Janice) Chupp of Elkhart and Ron M. (MaryColette) Chupp of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Garber; four sisters, Susie Eash, Minnie Hostetler, Mary Hershberger and Margaret Chupp; and a brother, Ora Chupp.

Mr. Chupp spent most of his life in Elkhart County, owning and operating Chupp's Garage. As a member of Gideons International, he volunteered his time in jail ministry in Goshen.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where there will be a 1 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Brian Whidden of Calvary Assembly of God will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
