GOSHEN - Powell G. Widner, 86, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 29, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been since Monday.
He was born in Goshen on Sept. 30, 1926, to Powell H. and Ruth A. (Gunther) Widner.
He married Barbara L. Rohn on July 1, 1950, in Goshen.
She survives along with a son, David (Janet) Widner of Goshen; a daughter, Paula (Scott) Troyer of Bristol; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Brumbaugh of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Widner; a brother, Jerry Widner; and a sister, Evelyn Orn.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Widner worked in quality control at Goshen Rubber for 48 years before retiring in 1992.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and volunteer with the Elkhart Township Fire Department for 22 years.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 1, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Pastor Harold Knight, Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow at a later date in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
