Cheryl L. Rider

March 28, 1951 - Feb. 9, 2013

ELKHART - Cheryl L. Rider, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen, following a yearlong battle with cancer.

She was born March 28, 1951, in Elkhart to William Philip and Ruth (Putman) Miller.

On Aug. 4, 1973, in Elkhart, she married Dudley W. Rider.

He survives along with two daughters, Kelly J. (Amanda Schelle) Rider and Jaime L. (Jason) Stacy, both of Goshen; two grandchildren, Kara and Connor; one brother, Philip William (Vicki) Miller of Elkhart; her sister-in-law, Darlene (Steve) VanRie; three nieces, Diana De la Reza, Daniela (Preston) Martin and Ginny VanRie; two nephews, Terry (Wanda) McCartney and Kurt (Jeannie) VanRie; a great-nephew, Hayden Martin; a great-niece, Tammy McCartney; and her mother, Ruth Miller of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Philip Miller.

Cheryl graduated from Elkhart High School in 1969 and received an Associate Degree in business from Ball State University in 1971. She was a member and officer of EGA, a member of the Rug Hooking Club and attended and sang in the choir at Trinity United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed making cards, doing needle point, quilting, sewing, weaving primitive baskets, embroidery, rug hooking, playing the piano and singing. She was formerly employed as a secretary and was currently a full-time grandma.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the church. Pastor Mark Dicken and Pastor LeRoy Wise will preside. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
