Melvin G. Wesley

ELKHART - Melvin G. Wesley, 59, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Tunica, Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie M. Wesley of Elkhart; son Darrick (Ann) Wesley of Elkhart; daughter Latonya Wesley of Springfield, Mo.; mother Della Wesley of Harvey, Ill.; four stepchildren; eight brothers, Roosevelt, Newtman, Robert Jr., Melvin, Michael, Tony, Maurice and Marshall; eight sisters, Doris, Bobbie, Emma, Evelyn, Ernestine, Josephine, Delphine and Chris; five grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bossie and Massie (Bryson) Jimerson; two sisters, Betty and Margorie; and brother Malcolm.

Melvin served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of VFW Post 88.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Willie Graham will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be at noon the following day at Marion National Cemetery.
