Memories and Condolences

Charlie and Virgil gave me my first job as a stock boy and worked my way up to butcher working with Gary Spence and Don. The Coopers were always great to my mom and dad and I really enjoyed working the counter and meeting the customers. I started in about 1962 or 1963. I think Virgil was one great guy.

I can't even guess how many times my Mom would have me ride my bike down to Cooper's Grocery to get bread and milk when I was growing up back in the 60's. I remember reading in the paper when Virgil shot 300. It was a big deal back then. Someone told me that after he shot that game, he gave the game up. How could you improve on a perfect game? I remember him and his brothers Don and Chester cutting meat behind the counter. Mom always said they had the best meat in town. My condolences to Mrs. Cooper and also to Doug and Brenda. Your family was always good to mine.
