Edward L. Ginter

Oct. 26, 1920 - Feb. 20, 2013

ELKHART - Edward Leo Ginter, 92, of Elkhart, passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Hubbard Hill Estates.

He was born Oct. 26, 1920, in South Bend to Frank and Francis Ginter.

On Sept. 6, 1947, he married Genevieve Thulis. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 1972.

He married Helen Mishler on Nov. 25, 1978. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1998.

Edward is survived by his lifetime friend and companion, Vera Kozak; and children James Ginter, Michael Ginter, Mary Elizabeth (Mark) Riley, Suzanne Hamilton, Christine Fischer, Virginia (Don) Berger, Jennifer Ginter (Don Albrecht) and Stephanie Parfit. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ashley Berger, Shelby Berger, Katie Riley, Genevieve Riley, Stephanie (Jim) Rodino, Pam (Brian) Burris, Tim Ginter, Elizabeth Ginter, Sarah Ginter, William Hamilton, David Hamilton, Emily (Jim) Pettit and Eric (Skye) Berger; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Francis; brothers Louis, Walter, Joe, George and Leo; and his sisters, Esther Dollie, Edna Hyzy and Stella Kluska.

Edward was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He loved to travel and vacation with Vera. He also loved to go out to dinner and have a cocktail with Vera and enjoyed watching plays and sunsets on the beach.

Visitation for Edward will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where Father Bill Sullivan will officiate. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Women's Shelter.
