Larry R. Bienz

ELKHART - Larry Randall Bienz, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.

Larry was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Elkhart. He graduated from Concord High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. On May 1, 1971, he married Emily Wirth.

Emily survives along with their children, Lorisa (Robert) Eby of Lake Villa, Ill., and Leslie Bienz and Larry C. Bienz, both of Chicago. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Austin, Tyler and Bryant Eby. Larry is also survived by his mother, Kathleen Bienz of Elkhart; and seven siblings, Robert Bienz, Pamela (Dan) Pease, Kathy (Nicholas) Leonard, Laura Bryan, Terry Testo, Brian (Brenda) Testo and Edward (Linda) Testo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carlyle Bienz.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastors John Utley and Robert Eby will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Radiant Life Church, 2936 Lillian Ave., Elkhart. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Larry was employed by Kinder's, Federal Paperboard and retired from Stiles in Elkhart at the age of 62. In his spare time, he enjoyed studying astronomy, playing chess and ping pong. Larry also loved sports, especially Chicago White Sox baseball.
