COATESVILLE - Sonja Jean (Whitehead) Everts, 74, dearly loved wife and mother, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

She was born May 2, 1938, in Elkhart, to George Grover and Evelyn (Eger) Whitehead.

She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1956 and received her bachelor's degree from Ball State University and her master's in education from Saint Francis College. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and taught in Muncie and North Webster Elementary schools for several years.

She married David L. Everts on Aug. 14, 1960. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jama (Stacy) Hostetler and Krista (Ross) Dahlstrom, both of Coatesville; one son, Chad (Carley) Everts of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Mischon Dahlstrom, Heidi (Ryan) Meyer, Brian Shear, Trent (Whitney) Dahlstrom, Brayden (Fran) Dahlstrom, Griffen Dahlstrom, Samuel Everts, Lilli Everts and Henry Everts; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shelbie (Carl) Hemphill of Zephyrhills, Fla.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Memories and Condolences

Nyla & Richard Moore, Elkhart, IN

Dear Dave and Family, What a sad day yesterday, when I read about Sonja. It has been hard to get a feeling of reality, that she will no longer be a part of our lives. Even though you folks lived far enough away that we only saw her on rare occasions, it will be difficult to plan a reunion and not have her involved as she always was. My prayer for you is that the Father will comfort and bring peace to you all. Nyla Moore

David Willard, Warsaw, IN

She will always be Mrs Everts to me. She was my kindergarten teacher at North Webster and was a great influence at such an early age. She truly loved all her kids and set them on the learning path. My deepest condolences to her family.
