April 18, 1916 - Feb. 23, 2013

ELKHART - Harold Reed McKee, 96, of Elkhart, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Harold was born April 18, 1916, in Bruce Lake Station to Reed and Josephine (Stark) McKee.

He married Estella Mae Shirar on Nov. 23, 1946. She passed away July 4, 2000.

He married Carolyn Shultz on March 20, 2009.

She survives along with his daughter, Lynne (Kent) Gwin of Elkhart; his son, Philip (Janet) McKee of Bend, Ore.; grandchildren Dawn Bushnell and Alden (Christy) Bushnell; great-grandsons Scott, Elliott and Reid Bushnell; sister Margaret Cook of Plymouth; and brother Robert (Marianne) McKee of Boston, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Forest, Charles and Wayne McKee.

Harold was honorably discharged as a 1st Lt. of the U.S. Army, serving in New Guinea during World War II.

He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Elkhart. Harold served many years on the Elkhart Library Board of Directors and on the City Beautification Development with the Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of Kiwanis and was active with the Boy Scouts.

A private family gathering will be at a later date.
