Memories and Condolences

Don Hougard, Germantown, WI

I met Ed and Marie several years ago when I was in seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They invited me to a delightful weekend at their home. When I was ordained, they came to Racine, WI in 1988. We corresponded for many years at Christmas, and we always looked forward to his cards. Wondered what happened this year, and am sorry to see that he passed, but also happy to know that he is with the Lord. My mother was a relative of Marie's from the Gehrand side.

Oh, Ed Hahn! I loved it that he called me "doll." He was a hero and a story-teller and the hero in many of his tales. And,I believe he truly was. He is an inspiration to me. I will miss him very much and our talks and a little kiss on the cheek. He was a sweetheart.

My condolences go out to the family of Ed Hahn. I was fortunate to see him last December and it was so nice to share some memories with him. He will be missed by all. May you rest in peace dear Ed. Marie has been waiting to greet you in Heaven. Thank you for your service to our Country and thank you for being a good Steward of God.

Prayers and condolences to the family, Ed was one of those people that served the community in a quiet but committed manner. He was a key person in the community.

Ed was the kind of man to leave a mark wherever he served. He was elected as a Twp. Board member over and over. The people felt he was the one to speak for them. I truly enjoyed his friendship and his service. He questioned everything that needed his attention. Rest in Peace, Ed. To Pat and Roger, Our deepest sympathy. May God bring peace and commfort to you and your family. Nyla Moore

I knew Ed from Elks Lodge #425. Ed was a wonderful person, always working hard to help others and happy to spend time with you if you needed some advice or help. He will be sorely missed by everyone he came into contact with. The Almighty will definitely reward Ed for all his efforts.

Uncle Ed was from that "Great Generation" of people who can not be replicated. His stamina, perseverance and many other great qualities are unmatched by anyone else that I have known. He was everyone's uncle, everyone's father, and everyone's friend.

I remember Mr. Hahn, while growing up in the neighborhood during the 40's and early 50's. His daughter, Patty was a good friend of my sister, Sharon. I visited with him a few times over the past couple of years, and he still had a great sense of humor, and remembered more than I did. He will be missed.
