FORT WAYNE - Gertrude "Gert" Maude Elliott, 82, of Fort Wayne, formerly of South Bend and Tippecanoe, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Woodview Health Care, Fort Wayne, following a lengthy illness.
Gertrude was born July 7, 1929, in Plymouth to Ezra and Cora (Ransbottom) Feece.
She married Robert Gene Elliott Aug. 20, 1950, in Plymouth. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2007.
Surviving her are her three sons, Mark (Susan) Elliott of Bristol, Paul Elliott of Woodstock, Ill., and David (Linda) Elliott of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Stacy Elliott, Laura and Joe Godfrey, Travis and Ashley Seibt, Ryan Elliott, Dave and Jillian Moser, Richard and Julie Senn and Matthew and Jessica Elliott; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lexi Feece of Plymouth; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law William "Jake" and Barbara Elliott of Tippecanoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.
Gertrude lived in Fort Wayne for the last four years after coming from South Bend where she and Robert had lived since 1966. Prior to that they lived in Tippecanoe.
She was a graduate of Plymouth Memorial High School class of 1948.
Gertrude was a homemaker and mother to three boys. After rasing them she was a clerk at Tepe's, South Bend, until she retired.
Gertrude was an active member of The Women's Progress Club of Tippecanoe and, along with her mother-in-law, Lillie, and sister-in-law, Barbara Elliott, she worked hard to make Tippecanoe a better place to live and grow up.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Branch of Cross Church of Rochester will officiate.
