GOSHEN - JoAn Leslie (Roe) Fisher, 68, passed away in her home Sunday morning, May 12, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Knoxville, Tenn., to William Charles Roe II and Mary Jo (Carithers) Luke. She married Larry Fisher on June 19, 1964, in Elkhart.
He survives along with a daughter, Jennifer (Ed) Garcia of Elkhart; a son, Scott (Jodi) Fisher of Goshen; her mother, Mary Jo Luke of Goshen; five grandchildren, Ian, Devynn and Christian Fisher and Gabe and Emanuel "Manny" Garcia; a sister, Marcy (Dick) Cochran of Elkhart; a brother, Mike (Tina) Roe of Paw Paw, Mich.; three stepsisters, Janet (Dean) Strycker of South Bend, Joyce (John) Godby of Kentucky and Jane Luke of Goshen; and a stepbrother, John (Sandy) Luke of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, William Charles "Chuck" Roe III.
A lifetime area resident, JoAn enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their many activities. She retired from Goshen General Hospital, where she worked in admitting.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service. A private family burial will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, Goshen Cancer Center or to the family.
