INDIANAPOLIS - Laura R. Griffin, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Laura was born in Corydon on Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Arthur and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Deutsch) Richert.
After graduating from Corydon High School, Laura attended Ball State University. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Eastern Star 467. She was very involved with St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where she was a charter member. She was an avid sewer and knitter, and utilized her talents by knitting preemie hats for the NICU department at Riley Hospital for Children. Laura's greatest enjoyment of all was spending time with her grandchildren.
Laura was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, William M. "Tim" Griffin; parents Arthur and Minnie Richert; three brothers; and two sisters.
Laura will be lovingly missed by her children, Jane (Bruce) Klonowski of Elkhart, Kate (Kevin) Shine and Lisa (Gary) Dum; grandchildren Jay Klonowski of California, Katie (Cory) Kurtz, Tim (Anne) Shine, Danny Shine, Will Shine, Jamie (Spencer) Morris, Jessica (Mike) Mattingly and Trevor Dum; and one great-grandchild, Molly Shine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ball State University Foundation, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or Riley Hospital for Children IU Health.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Flanner and Buchanan"Broad Ripple, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the funeral home. Internment will take place in Corydon.
