GOSHEN - Betty J. Herendeen, 85, Goshen, died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Goshen to Noah and Minnie (Holderbaum) Leinbach.
She married Donald R. Herendeen on April 22, 1950. He died April 7, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Viki (Rick) Pharis, sons Steven (Ann) Herendeen and David (Cindy) Herendeen, stepsisters Gladys (Mose) Mast and Mary Louise Kalbfleish and stepbrother Lowell Mumaw, all of Goshen; half brothers Gerald (Lois) Leinbach of Hesston, Kan., and Russell (Sally) Leinbach of Paoli; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers Maurice, infant Howard, J.R., Kenneth and Lloyd Leinbach; sisters Catherine Walter, Fern Yontz, Louida Mishler and Irma Shank; and stepmother Martha Mumaw.
Betty was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Goshen, VFW Post 985 Auxiliary, DAV Post 15 Auxiliary and was a former member of Goshen Moose Lodge. She worked at Penn Controls, Miles Laboratories, Chicago Telephone Supply (CTS) and retired from Whitehall Lab, Elkhart, in 1992 after 35" years.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, and for one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Steve Leinbach will officiate. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at West Goshen Cemetery.
