ELKHART - Mary Mikel, 85, of Elkhart, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Greenleaf Living Center.
Mary was born July 6, 1927, in LaPorte, to William J. and Ellen Marie (Lindborg) Anderson.
She married Fred R. DeFerbrache Jr. on Oct. 10, 1948. He passed away on March 9, 1979. She married Lloyd E. Mikel on June 7, 1980. He passed away on May 11, 2012.
Mary is survived by three sons, Fred R. (Sandy) DeFerbrache III of Elkhart, Don M. (Jean) DeFerbrache of Kissimmee, Fla., and Robert (Debbie) DeFerbrache of Elkhart; stepchildren Dennis, Jack and Eldon Mikel and Jane Farney; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen, on March 28, 1972; three brothers; and a sister.
Mary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Zonta Club, Women of the Moose, Frontiers Club, Funtimers Club, Hoosiers Cruisers Motorhome Club and Christian Women's Club.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, Elkhart. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery for a graveside service.
