Roy R. Archer

GOSHEN - Roy R. Archer, 90, died Friday evening, Oct. 5, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare, where he had been since Sept. 28.

He was born April 9, 1922, in LaGrange County, to Joshua T. and Elva E. (Gray) Archer.

He married Crissie Maxine Vance Sept. 4, 1942, in Goshen. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tana Penland and Carolyn Bogucki, both of Goshen; a son-in-law, Larry Bray of Milford; 10 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marilyn Bray; a son, Jon R. Archer; four sisters, Violet Richards, Martha Schrock, Bernice Eash and Ethyl M. Dunithan; and two brothers, Cecil and Stacy Archer.

A lifetime area resident, Mr. Archer, worked as superintendent at Barth RV.

A WWII veteran, Mr. Archer was a member of DAV, serving as an officer at both the local and state levels. As state commander, he was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award and the DAV National Commanders' Award.

Cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

Burial with military honors will follow in Violett Cemetery.
