CASSOPOLIS, Mich. - Pauline Burema, 89, of Cassopolis, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Bristol, Ind., following a brief illness.
She was born June 18, 1923, in Cassopolis, to Raymond and Helen Hazel (Hixon) Brouse.
On June 9, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she married Dowe J. Burema. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2010, in Elkhart, Ind.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas (Diana) Florea of Cassopolis, Robert (Diana) Florea of Madisonville, Ky., and Donald (Mary Ellen) Florea of Elkhart; and two daughters, Marsha (Frank) Martin of Bristol and Carol (Bernard) Snyder of Albuquerque, N.M. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, William Brouse, and one sister, Marjorie Ickes.
Pauline was a member of Ontwa Baptist Church in Edwardsburg, a volunteer for Cass County Council on Aging and Cass County Fairgrounds and was a Redcoat at Elkhart General Hospital for 25 years
She loved her dog, Lucky, and would help anyone who needed help.
She enjoyed being outdoors, baking and was a loyal fan of Dr. Oz.
Visitation for family and friends will be for one hour prior to the 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, celebration of life service at Ontwa Baptist Church, 69946 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg. Pastor Mike will preside and a dinner will follow the service at the church.
Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.
Burial will be at a later date in Adamsville Cemetery.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
