ELKHART - Roland Heiner, 84, of Elkhart, passed away Nov. 10, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
Roland was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Elkhart to Henry and Rosalie (Newman) Heiner.
Roland served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner mate. Following the war, Roland married Doris (Cripe) Heiner on April 8, 1949. She preceded him in death.
He retired from Miles (Bayer, where he worked in shipping and receiving.
Roland enjoyed eating, fishing and gardening.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Elkhart.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Ola) Heiner of South Haven, Mich.; daughters Jennifer Louise Heiner and Pamela Dawn (John) Culp, both of Goshen; brother Millard (Dorothy) Heiner of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Steve Heiner Jr., Matthew and Joshua Crain, Dahr C. White and Olivia Iavagnilio; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both parents; wife Doris; and a brother, Elwood Heiner.
Friends may call a half hour prior to the 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church on C.R. 6.
