Memories and Condolences

Tara , Indianapolis, IN

I just came across this. My Szyarto was my FAVORITE teacher. I was in his 6th grade class at Hawthorne! He always made sure that I knew what was going on and stayed on track! He picked me to speak at our 6th grade graduation! He always believed in me! I graduated from college and I've been a nurse for 7 years now! I had the best time when I and some of my other 6th grade friends were invited to his home for a pool party due to excelling in academics!

Dear Jill and Family- I had the pleasure of working with Steve when I served as an AR. He was so kind and knowledgeable. He was so passionate about education and will be greatly missed! My family lost my mom suddenly this August. The continued prayer and warm thoughts shared by all that loved her has helped us get through each day without her. It’s not easy, but I hope you might also find comfort in those things. You and your family have and will be in my prayers daily. I am truly sorry for your loss!

To the Szyarto Family & Friends, He was My 6th Grade Teacher, He was Always So Patient and Kind, He Helped All the Time and Always told Us we were Going to Do Great Things, Yes He Got Sometimes and Even Sent Me Out of Class or Separated Me From Talkative Friends, But He Left a Legacy! I Remembered Him always as One of My Favorite Teachers. Now Look Mr. Szyarto!! I've Graduated Highschool with a Core 40 Diploma! I knew You Would of Been Proud! We'll Miss You! and I Promise You Won't Forgotten!

Dear Jill, Jeff and Kara, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Steve's sudden passing. We will not be able to be there for the funeral in person, but please know that we are with you in spirit. Steve was a strong advocate for ISTA, and the association will miss his input. He was also a friend, and he will be missed by those of us who appreciated his sense of humor! We will keep all of you in our prayers. May God give you peace and comfort, Tony and Sue Johnson

When I came to Elkhart from a small school (Bremen), Mr. Szyarto was my 1st teacher (at Lincoln) and helped to foster in me a love of math. He was very kind to me and he will be missed. I know he is in heaven at peace, and for that I am grateful. God bless and keep all of you.
