Memories and Condolences

Mary K Myrkle CSM (Retired), Alexandria, AL

BG Reiff was one of the best officers I served with during my 27 year military career. As a Battalion Commander of the 601st MP Bn he had the respect of all soldiers assigned to his command. He took time to listen to the little guys. One of my best memories of BG Reiff was from a reserve camp. I was a 1SG and he asked if I would like to accompany him & some other soldiers on a fly over of our position. On the ground our camouflage looked great, but in the air not so great. After landing I advised my soldiers that we were not well hidden after all. Later in the encampment, BG Reiff needled me a bit about our uncamoflagued position. He loved the Army and earned the respect and admiration of his soldiers, peers and superiors. R.I.P BG Reiff.

General Reiff was a great man. I have only known him for a relatively short time but greatly enjoyed talking to him at the Legion in Middlebury and the VFW in Goshen. He served his country with great pride and honor. My sympathies to his family and friends

I was Bill's pastor both in Shipshewana and at the Beulah Missionary Church in Elkhart. I had good fellowship with Bill as we swapped war stories. I greatly appreciated the support and encouragement he and his wife were to me.

I only knew the General for a short time, but I thought he was a very good person and some one to look up to. He was very interesting, we swapped good stories back and forth. You will be missed sir.
